Environmental Examination of Nakshbandi Industries Limited Wastewater Treatment Plant
Narrative Description of Project: Nakshbandi Industries is one of leading manufacturer and exporter of the terry towel from Pakistan. Nakshbandi’s towel division is one of the country’s most technically advanced set up. Using only high grade raw material and [state of the art] machinery.
Proposed project requires the construction of an effluent waste water treatment plant (WWTP) within the existing boundary wall of the Nakshbandi Industries. The WWTP is intended to treat the approximately 1600 m3/day wastewater stream currently in existence. WWTP was designed as secondary treatment process with a combination of both biological and chemical units.
An IEE study has extensively considered all the relevant clauses and sections of national legislations, regulations and guidelines related to the project was considered. The recommendations would be given on the basis of project activities.
Description of Services Provided: Basic services included: a. To assess the existing environmental and socioeconomic conditions at and around the project site, particularly identify any environmental and social sensitivity b. To identify the likely impacts of the proposed project on the natural and socioeconomic environment, predict and evaluate these quantitatively wherever possible and determine their significance in the light of technical, public and regulatory concerns; c. To propose appropriate mitigation and monitoring measures that can be incorporated into the design of the proposed activities to minimize any damaging effects or lasting negative consequences; to prepare an EMP identifying the procedure for implementation of the mitigations measures, monitoring of environmental conditions and management of solid wastes; d. To prepare an IEE report in compliance with the legislative requirement of Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997 for submission to the respective regional EPA
