Initial Environmental Examination of Kassim textile Mills Wastewater Treatment Plant and Extension of Production Facility
Narrative Description of Project: Kassim Textile is one of the leading composite Textile Unit, working since 25 years in Pakistan, with the annual production of 200million meters.
Kassim Textile Limited planned to develop an ETP on 2177 square meter area of land to treat 1300 m3/day of industrial effluent. WWTP was designed as secondary treatment process with a combination of both biological and chemical units.
KTL also planned to extend it production facility by adding 23442.8 sq. meter of space through new construction of G+ 3 floor RCC building.
Description of Services Provided: Basic services included: a. To assess the existing environmental and socioeconomic conditions at and around the project site, particularly identify any environmental and social sensitivity areas; b. To identify the likely impacts of the proposed project on the natural and socioeconomic environment, predict and evaluate these quantitatively wherever possible and determine their significance in the light of technical, public and regulatory concerns; c. To propose appropriate mitigation and monitoring measures that can be incorporated into the design of the proposed activities to minimize any damaging effects or lasting negative consequences; d. To prepare an EMP identifying the procedure for implementation of the mitigations measures, monitoring of environmental conditions and management of solid wastes; d. To prepare an IEE report in compliance with the legislative requirement of Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997 for submission to the respective regional EPA.
