Narrative Description of Project:
Rawalpindi City Government in collaboration with JICA planned GIS based study for Flood Disaster Management Project. Frequent over flooding of Lai Nullah during seasonal rains every year, results in disaster for citizens of Rawalpindi. The city gets flooded with sewage water thus creating health concerns. Many valuable lives are lost in flood. Small residential units gets demolished and costly commercial commodities are wasted in godowns. Hence in order to evolve disaster management strategy a comprehensive study was needed to plan remodeling and widening of Lai Nullah. If needed relocation of residential units could also be planned based on outcomes of this study.
