Pakistan LNG Terminals Limited appointed Pakistan Gasport Limited (Client) for the development of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification import facility near Port Qasim southeast of Karachi, Pakistan. The objective of the Pakistan Gasport LNG Project wa to establish an easy supply of high-pressure natural gas (NG) to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) at the connection point. The supply is planned through a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) docked at a jetty with unloading facilities.
The LNG regasification import facility comprise the marine infrastructure and an LNG regasification vessel that makes available 750 mmcfd of regasified LNG (RLNG) per day to Pakistan. The Project is developed to provide LNG supplies to private and public sector industrial and power generation consumers. The inland transmission of the RLNG is made through the existing and future planned pipeline network of the SSGC. The facility is located at Mazhar Point in Chara Creek adjacent to Port Qasim approach channel, southeast of Karachi, Pakistan.
