SITE decided to upgrade the status of Habib Bank Chowrangi Intersection to a grade separated Interchange. They planned to construct a fly over at the Intersection which could provide free flow to all the movements at the signal. and to facilitate heavy traffic of industries located in the SITE area. The project if constructed would also mitigate the delay time at the Intersection and provide benefit to the employees working in those industries as their travelling time would be reduced. This project has relevance to applied project in the category of Transportation and in the sub category of Flyover/Bridges. The superstructure comprises simply supported reinforced pre-stressed concrete U girders with a maximum span of35m. The substructure comprises reinforced concrete transom and pier supported on reinforced concrete piles and pile caps. The flyover is designed in accordance with AASHTO (American Association for State highway and Transportation Official) 2007. The vehicular live load criteria is adopted from WPCHB (West Pakistan Code of Practice for Highway Bridges). Risk Map of Pakistan developed by Geological Survey of Pakistan considering ground acceleration of 20% as per location of the site is adopted
