    Narrative Description of Project:

    Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to carryout Feasibility Study on Railway Container Transport from Karachi to Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar. The Scope of services included collection of data on container handling capabilities and potentials of ports at Karachi and in-land dry ports. Data was also collected on different modes of in-land transportation. EE also collected data on the efficiency of ports, dry ports, Highways and Railways. The future expansion plans of Ports and dry ports were also studied. The performance of railway and highway as a means of container transport was analyzed for viable economical and profitable cargo movement on Karachi-Lahore-Karachi, Karachi-Faisalabad-Karachi and Karachi – Peshawar - Karachi railway corridors.
