Narrative Description of Project:
Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi city is faced with problems of growing traffic jams specially in rush hours. This problem is anticipated to become even worse in future due to increased number of traffic on this road. City District Government of Karachi (CDGK) is planning to construct a 24 km long elevated expressway starting from Jinnah Bridge to Quaidabad. The work has been undertaken by a Malaysian firm IJM. The design concept has been developed by a consortium of Malaysian and Pakistani Consultants. The expressway consists of prestressed precast concrete super-T type girders supporting reinforced concrete deck slab. The superstructure is supported on a single pier with pile cap and piles. The Project cost is USD 350 million. Exponent Engineers is a part of the consortium
