Telenor Greenfield Karachi MSC (Mobile Switching Center) Building

Telenor, Pakistan is a leading Telecommunication Company in Pakistan. Telenor planned to construct two new MSC (Mobile Switching Center) buildings, one at Karachi and the other one in Islamabad. MSC Building at Karachi has two level basements and a ground floor plus four upper floors (2B + G + 4) whereas MSC Building at Islamabad has one basement, a ground floor plus two upper floors (1B + G + 2). These Buildings house equipment’s for Mobile Switching Center of Telenor. They have a Communication Tower, Emergency Power Generation uninterrupted power supply and switching system. The Telenor Pakistan has planned all its future expansions to be brought under one roof. These structures are RCC framed structure with RC walls on the basement perimeters. The structures are designed for seismic zones 2B (for Karachi MSC building) & 3 (for Islamabad MSC building) following the standards of Building Code of Pakistan for earthquake zone and wind speed. UBC – 97 was adopted for analysis of structure and ACI – 318 – 05 for RCC design of buildings and AISC specification for design of steel members. A three-dimensional structural analysis was performed using the ETABS & SAFE soft wares in order to assess the structural behavior under specified loading. All equipment loads as specified by the client was 150 Psf for equipment floors while for battery bank it was 400 Psf.
