Narrative Description of Project:

This project is a mixed land use development having the total GFA of 28,799 sqm with a small component of commercial activity at ground and mezzanine floors, a ceremonial hall on the first floor and mainly residential land use on rest of the floors. The project site is located in Al Shati District on Al Kurnaysh Road and near to King Abdul Aziz Road. Detailed TIS of the building along with its extended road network was analyzed with the help of micro simulation tools i.e. PTV VISTRO to recommend the best possible traffic circulation pattern around the buildings (both internally & externally).

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff within the Assignment:

The project included development of a calibrated micro simulation model (using PTV VISTRO) for various conditions. The study area considered for this project consisted analysis of 4 junctions in the network. The project scope included
  • collection of turning movement count and delay data for all the 4 junctions
  • Estimation of trip generation (using ITE Trip Rate Manual & Riyadh Trip Generation Manual)
  • Trip distribution in project area
  • Development of calibrated micro simulation model of the roads network
  • Policy testing for 10 year traffic projections
  • Recommendation on changes needed in the traffic network plan for accommodating traffic of other adjacent buildings
  • Developing preliminary alternatives for suggested improvement in road infrastructure
